Center for Geographic Information Research

Mission

The Center for Geographic Information Science Research (CGISR) serves as Cal Poly Pomona’s hub for geospatial analysis. Supported by 4 colleges-Environmental Design, Engineering, Letters, Arts and Social Sciences, and Science– the CGISR facility hosts interdisciplinary GIS instruction, research and projects in disciplines such as geography and anthropology, urban and regional planning, landscape architecture, biology, computer science, civil engineering and electrical and computer engineering.

The CGISR contains an instructional lab with 40 workstations configured with ArcGIS 9.0, Leica GeoSystems Photogrammetry Suite 8.7, AutoCAD 2002 and Trimble PathFinder Office. TheCGISR is dedicated to bridging traditional investigative methodologies with GIS/RS technologies for interdisciplinary research.
